Living Life

Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then, do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.

Margaret Young

...Ohh,isn't this absolutely true of our lives? And, what a nice way to achieve it! Go reverse-by first being who we really are-but, is it really possible for us? Will we ever stop looking enviously at our neighour and then attempt to go one-up on them?

Criticism

"If criticism is mistaken or mean-spirited, rise above it. Maintain the high ground when you're under fire. No victory is worth winning at the expense of picking up the mud that has been slung at you and throwing it back."
Now, is that a hometruth or not? And, how often do we remain calm when we are criticized? We take criticism as a personal affront, most of the times. Even if it is constructive, our reaction is'how dare he or she......?'And, usually such arguments end in both sides being unhappy(That's an understatement. LOL).
On the lighter side, it reminds me of another similar quote:
Arguing with your Boss is like wrestling with a pig in mud. After a while you realize that while you are getting dirty, the pig is actually enjoying it.

The same holds true for arguing with people who love to criticize, I guess.

So, next time you feel hot and bothered at being criticized, think for a moment-is it worth it?

Friends

Hi,all!!I was going to put up the above inspiration on 14th Feb, but, somehow, work pace did not allow me to sit peacefully at the computer.

I always feel envious when I see 'Friends'- can you imagine such an interesting, sometimes zany group of six people, enjoying life to the fullest, having their fights and bickerings, and, yet, at the end, they are 'united forever', each time. So,this post is dedicated to all such friends!:)Cheerio and TC!

Lost Time

I needed this thought today..seriously- the second part-about not realizing how important our loved and close ones are! Indeed, lost time is never gained again, and that's why I'm longing to return to good ole Baroda.:)

Challenges

The last four weeks have been so hectic. But, this is exactly what I did, which made me stronger and able to get the desired results.Jump into the challenges, beat the heck out of them. I feel that each drawback, if one considers it as yet another test from the One Above which has to be passed with flying colours, can be converted into a plus point for one's self.

But, as soon as you feel' Why does this happen to me only?', ' Why are others sitting idle while I get all the work?', etc, those negative emotions begin creeping in!

So, buck up, beat the odds, take up the challenge(s). It's worth it!

The World

This one's another gem from Prav's World. Does a day ever go by without the self wondering why something or someone couldn't be better? Or, even listening to people cribbing about inanities which they wish would change to their way of thinking? Well, the answer is in the above pic- stop! It's a waste of time.

I totally agree..and, that's why, if something's not to my satisfaction and I know I can't do anything by talking about it, I try and see if I can change it-this could be a report at work or furniture arrangement at home, et al. But, yes, if I talk of the recession and begin cribbing, it's a waste of time, right? What do you say?
