A Perfect Life

If I could wish for my life to be perfect, it would be tempting but I would have to decline, for life would no longer teach me anything....Allyson Jones

This is so close to what I keep trying to explain to people who're forever cribbing about their lot in life. They have a lot of work, they complain. They're out of work/out of a job, they complain. The sun shines, they complain. There's a wind blowing, they complain. What are you really looking for, I ask them? I would hate to be in a situation where I've got everything I ever wanted, from or in life. It just wasn't meant to be!What do you say? Would you prefer a perfect life, where there's nothing to strive for, or a life where you're just satisfied, but, you feel 'yeh dil maange more'?A-Haaa!!Got you there !

MTV Roadies

Hi,all!! Are you watching the latest edition of  MTV Roadies? It's a show on MTV, naturally. First, there were auditions all over India(more on them some other time) now, the selected 'toughies' are going about doing their tasks.

What inspired me was their task last week. They were taken to Pushkar in Rajasthan(Love the place), where a huge Pushkar Fair takes place every year. The task? They were divided into two teams, and, each team had to collect dung-yes,that icky, ughy dung lying on the ground. Further, each team had two divisions-one for dry dung and another for wet dung. And, the reactions from the players, on hearing the task, ranged from wrinkled up noses, to astonishment to ..:) Just wondering how they would even touch something that is deemed soooo.....ughly!

And, after the task, their reactions? One said' Each time we saw a mound of dung, it was like we found a treasure'. Another said' I was more pleased to see dung than I was pleased to see gold in the past'. Other descriptions were so ughly, I don't want to describe them here..you can probably see the video on the MTV link above,or, on youtube.:)

What I found inspiring: What the show does- people's built in inhibitions, people's attitudes, the' I'm great' thought- everything's brought down to normal levels. No task is beneath one's (false) dignity. You might have been brought up in the lap of luxury, so what?

There are massive ego clashes(as there are in life), but, finally, they know, if they want to win, teamwork is what will count...at least, till the last 2 are left- then, it's one for all and all for one.
Again, that's like the proverbial 'survival of the fittest'!!

Faith

I think I needed this thought today- it's come at just the right time, since I was getting bogged down by an overload of work since the past few days, and was wondering whether it was all worth it. And, the answer comes- yes, of course. The last lines- namely, to do whatever, whenever, wherever, for as long as I can, with whatever I have- say it all. And, finally, the real pleasure in life comes from trying to make a difference for others.

But then, here, I'd add, make a difference for others, but not at the cost of your own dignity, your happiness. What you do has to come from the heart, genuinely. Just because 'society says so', is no reason, is it?Take Care!

Existence

This one's for all those moments when we feel that we're a burden on earth, that everyone except us is happy...and,people like me,at those times also wonder whether my existence is justified...I'll surely keep this one in mind and think of the near and dear ones who'd be affected by my absence, the next time I feel d in the d.(Down in the Dumps)

As an afterthought, I'm wondering- doesn't positivity begin at home?i.e. How can you spread positivity when you are feeling negative internally? You really can't, and, the hollowness would show through in some way or the other.

So, those reading this, think over it and tell me- what made you feel positive today?:)And, if you aren't feeling positive, can you think of someone or something will make you feel so in the near future?Good luck!!

It reminds me of my favourite positivity book' You Can Win' by Shiv Khera...all the examples, all the words written in it- are meant to make you feel positive!!Hats off to the author!I've never identified with any other book as well as I have with this one. And,btw, there's a website too, for those wanting to join! Here's the link.

Life and the Sea

I continue to be amazed at the wisdom of this Pravs world...so simply said, once again...and,very easy to metaphor-ize the above situation..your life is the vast expanse of sea, seemingly never ending, the heart is the seashore where life's core is,and, friends are the waves-sometimes stormy, sometimes peaceful, each one affecting the seashore,i.e. our heart,in some way!!Beautiful! And,ultimately, what matters is how many waves touched the seashore,i.e. how many friends touched your life!!

Life

Sooner or later,we learn this simple home truth..it's just the way it was meant to be. Even I used to hate or dislike some people in the past. And, it never really achieved anything except my own self feeling those hate lines running all over. Instead, a much better way is to get along with them-you need not be bosom buddies,I agree-but,you can always be acquaintances,na?

I also came to a simple conclusion-if the situation persists, and the opposite person continues to needle you, well, just ignore them or avoid them. Talk to others with a smile on your face.Such people get more encouragement when they see you wilting or reacting to their provocations.Do you agree?

And,let's not forget-life's too short,as it is!Why spend precious moments in envy,anger,hatred?:)

Logic

Hi,all! I'd like to know what you interpret this quote as:

'Pure logic is the ruin of the spirit'...Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

And, who better to illustrate this than Mr. Spock from Star Trek...remember his always logical solutions?

Maturity

Hi, all! Here's wishing you all a Very Happy 2009. May all your plans, thoughts, ideas, aspirations help you sail happilythrough the year!!:)
----

I came across this one in an email...and, boy, can I identify with it very nicely? Yes, I can! It is, in a way, a reflection of Maslow's Theory, but, in a very simple way. In short, it says 'the simpler you live your life, the happier you will be!

Maturity

As we mature spiritually there is less need to have our self-respect bolstered by praise and special attention. As our thought processes become more compassionate and less self obsessed, we feel increasingly satisfied with ourselves and with our lives. We relate to people more easily and feel no need to draw attention to our successes or complain about our problems.

Tell me, what does the above paragraph tell you?
